Chères et chers parents de la division 5:
Since September, we have been practicing several reading strategies for informational texts (biographies). Students have practiced each reading strategy and have received feedback on their application of each strategy. Students have now been asked to select a biography that interests them and demonstrate their ability to apply the reading strategies to research their 'person'.
Part 1 = Selection of sources, research using sources, completion of reading strategy booklet
Part 2 = Creation of a research "product." This product is a visual representation of their research. In the past, students have created dioramas, puppets, paintings, posters, scrapbooks, etc. They will present this product, via a short oral presentation, before Winter Break.
Students in Division 5 have chosen to study many different biographies including: Jane Goodall, Bill Gates, Terry Fox, Wayne Gretzky, Michael Jordan, Isaac Newton, Lionel Messi, Adolf Hitler, Anne Frank, Michael J Fox, Emily Carr, Wop May, Andy Warhol, Albert Einstein, David Suzuki, Rosa Parkes, Mario Lemieux, Cristiano Ronaldo, Leonardo da Vinci, Christine Sinclair, Freddy Mercury, Jackie Robinson & Cleopatra.
Students have been asked to try and select a biography that has an available book from either the school or local library. If this isn't possible, students should make sure that they are able to find adequate information (in French) online to conduct their research. All resources, print and non-print, should be IN FRENCH as our focus is French reading strategies.
Our timeline is as follows:
